Sunset Song was created entirely en plein air, painted directly under the dimming light of late-summer and autumn sunsets. This work is a meditation on seeing without looking — a quiet surrender to intuition, craft, and the fleeting rhythms of nature.
Shizico Yi drew upon decades of working with her own hand-mixed pigments. In this piece, she captures the moment when the shifting sky meets the deep silhouette of the lime trees that inspired much of her 2025 work. Painting in the low light of evening, she trusted her understanding of colour, tone, and gesture to guide the composition.
The contrast between the sunset’s warm radiance and the velvety green of the lime trees creates a poetic stillness. About the Artist
Dr. Shizico Yi, the UK artist working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories .
With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
