Primary Colour Series- Blue is Shizico Yi's on going project, inspired by Japanese woodblock Print and the a nod to calligraphy tradition.
The series is a continuation of her "Sunlit Series", started from late spring 2023, where Shizico develops her visual language, with and around the colour of yellow: it's an exploration of the healing power of yellow and the celebration of the sun light which bring much needed warmth after the long cold winter in the UK.
This "Sunlit Series" meticulously crafted on all mediums, gold leaf gilding on her brushstrokes captured within a restrained palette of yellow, and mono palettes for each painting. With strokes of gold, gesso and acrylic, she painted a symphony of artistic abstract expression.
Each painting within this series aims to capture a unique facet, where the golden hues engage in a dialogue with the layers of landscape. The interplay of these contrasting elements upon the textured surface of gold leaves adds yet another layer of tactile fascination.

This Sunlit Series nestles within her "Golden Period," a profound exploration centred around the captivating hue of yellow. Yellow is a colour she believes having the healing power for those afflicted by grief. The result is a breath-taking testimony to the profound connection between the materials, the subject (the deeper meaning of her garden), and the artist herself.

About the Artist
Dr. Shizico Yi, the UK artist working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories .
With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
