Lime Tree Path in Autumn is the newest work in Shizico Yi’s deeply personal Autumn Series, a project that has become an instant classic within her celebrated career. Painted en plein air, this series honours the streets she once walked with her beloved Labrador and the trees that marked their daily journey. Since 2020, Yi has returned each autumn to paint these landscapes as a form of remembrance, reflection, and healing.
In this painting, she captures the view from her garden: an avenue of 130-year-old lime trees planted by Queen Victoria, a quiet sanctuary for wildlife and a contemplative refuge for the artist. With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
