Sunset Song with Blue and Green is part of Sunset Song Series, a major new body of work created by British awarded artist Shizico Yi for her solo exhibition Modern Ancient.
Painted entirely en plein air, the series was created during the fading light of sunset over three seasons. Without artificial light, Yi embraced dusk with full presence—relying solely on instinct, her hand-mixed paints, and decades of mastery in colour and material.
Rendered through the silhouette of 130-year-old lime trees, the shifting cloudscape dissolves into deep greens and radiant evening light. The contrast between velvety dark foliage and sunset glow evokes a poetic stillness—a meditation on seeing without looking, trusting one’s craft, and surrendering to the truth of the moment.
This work embodies Shizico’s signature expressive brushwork and her devotion to painting from life.

Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
